Born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, I currently reside just east of Pasadena. It’s a very quaint, hardly quiet little town. Gorgeous mountains to the north try to absorb the heat, but my corner room catches it all, doing a better job of it.
I find myself shy at times. It’s disturbing when it’s the silence that echoes. But when I am not, I jump from building to building, having fun as I travel.
In my travels, I find time to mingle with gods. I shoot them, making the pictures move and tell stories, clearing ways for others to become something other than they used to be, something different. I admire talent in all forms. I’m addicted to creative expression, and it’s everywhere if you just open your eyes.
Please enjoy these photographs from the earth, and question everything.

I enjoy the small simple things that make me genuinely happy. I also enjoy traveling and learning about other people's life-styles and values. I'm idealist enough to dream and focused enough to achieve. Teaching is my profession and art is my hobby.
I really appreciate films that portrait ideas that rarely cross people's minds and foreign/independent movies are usually the ones that do that. At this point I'm having the opportunity to act and I'm having a blast.

I am a man of this secular world, walking through my endeavor. Obstacles can not take away my smile, and serenity reminds me to stay alert.
I have a vision of seeing the world as one harmonious place, and I will like to visualize it through the film works that I am involved in, and share them with the world. Maybe I won’t get to see it in my life time, but I will be a pioneer for world peace.
I am Mike.

I have always been keen on science;currently I work as a researcher at UCLA, but have always had a very artistic side that stops me for being a complete lab rat.
I believe the world needs this balance between science and art; one cannot live without the other.
In 2003 I embarked in a PhD, leaving Spain behind for the mystic landscapes of Scotland. After 5 years I had to say goodbye, accepting a postdoctoral position in sunny California. This new position placed me into one of the leading cancer biology labs in the world, something I literally dreamt when I was sixteen.
Even if working as a researcher involves long hours and coming in on weekends I always try to find that extra time to dedicate to my artistic side. I play piano, guitar, love singing and composing songs, painting, and acting in front of a camera. I did a lot of theater when I was young; there is something magic and extremely exciting about acting. What do I love about cinema? There are no limits. Anything is possible all you have to do is create it!

I have trained in various martial arts since I was 4 years old. When I was 8 years old, I started piano lessons and played trumpet elementary school. During college, I studied jazz composition and arranging as well as performance on the saxophone. I studied one year at the Berklee College of Music, but moved to California to study at Pasadena City College when the money ran out. I also completed and internship with a music publishing company.
During my studies at Pasadena City College majoring in Music, I also took courses in photography and broadcast telecommunications. I also earned a B.S. in Biology from M.I.T. and a Masters of Library and Information Science from San Jose State University.

Having a passion for something you love doing in life is truly fortunate. Piano has become a part of my life since I was 13 and music composition has always been on my favorite things’ list.
I accidentally discovered that I could play the piano even though I have never had a piano lesson. Since that discovery, I have been learning and playing the piano on my own.
To honestly express the deep feeling inside you on a piece of music is indeed a fascinating experience. Without the existence of music, this world will lose its vividness.

I do not have anything to give of myself but an answer to a question I purpose to you.
Ask yourself this: "If a physical ailment were to befall me, would I rather become blind or deaf?"
I would rather live a hundred years in darkness, than to be a day without the laughter, song, and love of my most cherished!

As a kid I always felt like exploring but of course I was too young and inexperienced. By watching movies I explored more and understood more of what lied beyond the gates of my house. Slowly I started making movies of my own in my head, but I lacked the knowledge and resources to be able to make one. So making a movie at that age was too much for me.
Growing up I started watching more movies but even so I became pickier when it came to movies. I watched many movies, but I only liked a few. That dream of making a movie was still in my head. My friends and I would use whatever equipments we had to create short videos, and when I finally got my hands on an editing program we started doing even more complicated scenes. We weren’t great but even so it felt really good seeing something we worked hard on. Now that I’m 18 and have a better understanding of my goal I want to take my filming hobby to another level. My goal is to make a film of my own, a film that will open people’s minds, and show them there is more to their simple lives they lead. I also want to improve my skills and creativity. I’m pretty excited being in this group because I’m finally taking that step!

When I was a kid, my first impression of movie was an activity that required three hours of bicycle riding from my village to town at night, paying 2 cents for a movie ticket, lots of people sitting outside on the open space, and an old projector projecting black and white images on a white screen. Those movies were mostly about the Civil War of China. I was amazed how thousands of people could carry out a war story in just one to two hours.
From then on, I have been curious about performing and movie-making. I always enjoy watching movies but I couldn’t fully appreciate movies until I became a member of From the Earth productions. Now I realize that a good movie is more than a good story and good actors, there are many aspects behind the screen. A few minutes shown on the screen may be couple days of work by the cast behind the screen.
Life is a movie and I am the star and director of this movie. From the Earth productions gave me chance to play more roles than just “me”.

The excitement about being in front of a camera portraying a character is an addiction. It’s like you close your eyes for a second, and when you open your eyes again, you are a different person in a different world. It is an addiction of being thousands of possibilities of what you can be. You can be intelligent, mad, humbled, doomed, or even something out of this world.
Living well is a philosophy, and for me, it means to fill up every single spot of my everyday life with color. Work hard, live hard, and play hard! I achieve my life philosophy with internet, graphic design, video games, movies, cooking, and hanging out with friends.

I like storytelling. My first storytelling experience was at an age younger than 3, and it was about the fate of an airplane. Ever since childhood I have been plotting screenplays, and my casts were my action figures. In other words, perhaps you can say that I have an abundant resource of creativity, or maybe I am simply refusing to grow up from that childhood imagination. Either way, I feel like I am doing what myself have been waiting for me to do. When I look back at this time of my life as an old crow in the future, I am pretty sure that I will love it.
How do you perceive the different kinds of people around you? I’ll say there isn’t much difference. That is why we all have the words to describe the same emotions, no matter where we grow up. I guess having lived at dissimilar places and in diverse cultures broadened my view of the world. Well, I am preparing to see more.
